Texas Driver License and ID Cards Online Services Eligibility

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) offers online services to renew, replace, upgrade, or change the address on your driver license (DL), commercial driver license (CDL), or ID card. Review the general eligibility requirements below to see if you may be able to complete DL, CDL, and ID transactions online.

Real ID Requirements for Driver Licenses and ID Cards

Starting May 7, 2025, you’ll need a REAL ID-compliant DL, CDL or ID card with a gold star, a valid passport, or U.S. military ID to travel by air in the U.S.

If your card expires before May 7, 2025, don't worry. You will get a REAL ID the next time you renew. Check your eligibility to renew online here: https://txapps.texas.gov/txapp/txdps/dleligibility
